• WELCOME

“But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”

    1 Timothy 1:5

  • Part 5 - Introduction - Why Are the Apostles So Encouraging?

    Everything's Backwards and Upside Down!
The things that the world esteems the most are often the same things that are potential handicaps in the spiritual life (eg. intellect, athleticism, beauty, strength/power, business acumen, shrewdness, etc.) (1Co 1:25-31)

  • Settling In On the Big Picture

‘Seeing the forest through the trees’ is critical to understanding the very mind of Christ (1Co 2:16). Our Lord, Himself, sees a much bigger picture than we ever could (Ro 11:33); yet, it behooves us to seek His Truth, for this is freedom in Him (Jn 8:32 - “the truth will make you free”).

  • Christmas Special

If we're going to reflect on Christmas, let us reflect on the whole of the Gospel...that we were born sinners in need of a Savior.

Nutrition and Ingredients Labels

The Bible not only gives us everything we need to be well-nourished, healthy disciples of Christ, it also comes with an easy-to-read nutrition and ingredients label, something I’m learning to appreciate the older I get.

Part 4: What is Good? And Who Gets To Define It?

The oldest trick in the book (literally) is the one that the first two humans fell for in the Garden - question God’s perfect goodness, His veracity (inability to lie), His lovingkindness, His truth.

>

Part 3: What is Good? And Who Gets To Define It?

Our God is truly good, in all His intentions and actions. He reveals Himself to man, with great grace and patience, in hopes that man repents and sees the Light of Jesus Christ, and spends eternity with Him forever.

>

Part 2: What Is Good? And Who Gets To Define It?

It is very sobering to analyze our own definitions for “good”. We might quickly realize that what we think and even act upon as “good” really isn’t. A good litmus test is to observe what we esteem/celebrate in ourselves/others.

How To Engage A Sinner

A good friend seeks to restore a “dislocated joint” in the Body of Christ, regardless of how painful the process of doing so might be.

>

What Is Good? And Who Gets To Define It?

Someone might argue that beholding God’s creation is one thing, but understanding it in the context of salvation is another thing altogether; but they’d be wrong. They presuppose that God hasn’t instilled a conscience in man (ability to discern right and wrong - ala Ro 2:14-16).

  • A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs 15:1)

  • "So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls." (James 1:21 - NLT)

  • "For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)

  • "The grass withers and the flowers fade  but the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

  • The words of the wise are like cattle prods--painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail-studded stick with which a shepherd drives the sheep. - Ecclesiastes 12:11 (NLT)
