TODAY’S VERSES:

Matthew 1:22-23 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: "BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means, "GOD WITH US."

We just wrapped up our study on eternal security in prep school and it has been wonderful learning about how safe we are in God’s plan. We should never take for granted all that He has done, and continues to do, for each and every one of us. We should all take the time to be grateful to God for the grace gift that is eternal security. How blessed are we that the Creator of the universe loves us so much and wants to spend all of eternity with YOU?!! As today’s verses describe, even the name given to our Lord at birth, Immanuel, means “God with us”.  God promises to always be “with us”, His children, and to never leave or forsake (abandon) us.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Do you remember the definition of eternal security? It means to spend forever free from danger, fear, and anxiety. That’s right... FOREVER! You are able to have this freedom from fear and anxiety because there will never be a moment in your life, whether on earth or in heaven, when God will not be right there with you, loving you. What is even more amazing is that this promise is not based on our behavior. Neither our good nor or bad decisions motivate God to stay by, or leave, our side.

Psalm 139:8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.

His promise of eternal security is based on His perfection and what the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished on the Cross. God cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18) and He has promised that if you have repented- admitted that you are a sinner and need a savior, and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will be with Him forever.

John 3:13,15 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man... so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

So, the omniscient (all knowing) and omnipotent (all powerful), God who cannot lie has promised to always be with you... no matter what!  If this does not make you feel safe and secure- nothing will.

Keep reading your Bible, talking with and praying to God. Ask Him to help you understand what all of this means. He will answer your prayers and then you will feel as confident as the Apostle Paul did when he wrote this:

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
