OUTLINE:

God’s Love
Being called out by God isn't the same thing as being "called out" for the sake of embarrassment (as in the world). When God's Spirit says, "It's time to man-up," it's a privilege to hear it. Perspective is key.

Loving Like Jesus (Really)
- When you don’t like the other person (Lk 6:32-33)
- When the other person doesn’t “deserve” it (Rm 3:10)
- When the person is “bad” (Rm 5:7)
- When you don’t feel like it (Ac 20:35; Php 2:3-5)

Manning-Up From God’s Perspective
When God says "Man-Up" it is implied that we are to do so as unto the Lord, on the fundamental reality of the Gospel.

Manning-Up
The most important leadership role you have is spiritual. This means that your first priority in the home is Christ. Nothing should "escape" the criticism/encouragement of the Light of truth.

Wisdom
When we find what is truth, then we find the definition for “good”! (Pr 4:5-7; Jas 3:17)

General vs. Special Revelation
General: God’s witness of Himself through creation (Ps 19:1-6)
Special: God reveals Himself directly (e.g., Holy Scripture, Christ’s incarnation, dreams/visions, acts) (Ps 19:7-14)

The Word Is Special Revelation
In the OT, the “law”, “testimony”, “precepts”, “commandment”, and the “judgments of the LORD” (Ps 19) are all speaking about what the NT writers (e.g. John) described as “the Word” (e.g., Jn 1).

Special Revelation
“Good” doesn’t always mean “nice”. Case in point, God cursed the serpent and the first two humans for disobeying His command. (Ge 3:7-19)

Special Revelation
Much of what is expounded upon over and over in the Bible is the result of special revelation (e.g., The Ten Commandments, The Exodus miracles, the God-Man, etc.).
