The dramatic point is that they are ONE AND THE SAME; "the Word was God", or better yet, "God was the Word".

The Word is "He"
We have a special revelation by John of the incarnation of the Word; namely God becoming flesh, revealing Himself/His Word in an entirely different way than in the OT. Joh 1:14

Be On The Alert
Only arrogant man, motivated by a different spirit, 2Co 11:4, will try to discredit Jesus Christ from being who He really is. As Holy Scripture tells us, God Himself has come to visit His people, Luk 7:16.

Is 40:3
A voice is calling,

His Life Was The Light
God's Truth, God's Word, became flesh and shined into the darkness. His name was Jesus. And He revealed the very love of God to mankind. God is love. Joh 1:4, 1Jo 4:8,16

Jesus essentially stated that we have been given the perfect source of sustenance - HIM! And since He is the Word (just read the “label” - John 1:14), you know that when you ingest Him you are dining on the very “bread of life” (John 6:35).
