F. B. Meyer
“Plenty are there whose outward body is richly decked, but whose inner being is clothed in rags; whilst others, whose garments are worn and threadbare, are all glorious within.”

True Beauty
Man values the jewels we dig out of the earth; God values the jewels that adorn the ”hidden person of the heart.”

Identifying True Beauty
A virtuous man isn’t impressed with outward appearances, though he may appreciate them, superficially. A good man looks at the “hidden person of the heart” when he looks upon a woman.

Lk 7:44
Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.”

Lk 7:50
And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

True Beauty
God makes a person beautiful. It is not by the hand of man or his opinion that beauty abounds or is rightly assessed; rather, it’s by the grace of God.

What Jesus was teaching His disciples in Luke 12:22-31 was threefold. First, our daily needs are small, much smaller than we have been deceived into thinking. Second, not only can we live simple lives, but we should. Third, why should a believer be anxious about the future?

You don’t need the history of how a mountain was formed, or even to understand the underlying rock structures that support you standing on its peak. You only need to enjoy the transcendent view it offers you, in its most raw and simple form. Such is wisdom from above. “But the wisdom from above is first pure” (James 3:17).

2Ti 2:4 [Amplified]
No soldier in active service gets entangled in the [ordinary business] affairs of civilian life; [he avoids them] so that he may please the one who enlisted him to serve.

Let us enjoy the view from the mountaintop, for that was Jesus’ vantage point. Learn to live a simple life and watch how magnificent it can be to look across the expanse that God has seen fit to bless us with.

Defending Against Attacks
The craftier the enemy, the more subtle the attacks, the more traps have been set, and the greater the “surgical precision” required by the righteous party in their defense. (1Pe 3:8-22)
