TODAY’S VERSE:

1 John 3:20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.

In prep school we asked this question; is there anything that God doesn’t see, hear, or know from the past,  present, or future? Today’s verse answers the question; God knows everything.

God knew you before you were born.

Psalm 139:13,15-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb…My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

God knows all your thoughts.

Psalm 139:2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.

God knows what you’re going to say before you even say it.

Psalm 139:4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.

God knows everything you do and all your little quirks.

Psalm 139:3 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

God knows how time began, how it will end, and He is in charge of both.

Isaiah 46:10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’

Why is it important for us to understand that God knows absolutely EVERYTHING? Well, like we said, God knows every decision we are going to make and everything we are going to do. Even when we make negative decisions, though, He is faithful and always at work in all of our lives according to His plan.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Even when it seems like life is out of control, God is always in control. He is never surprised or disappointed because He already knows the beginning from the end. He patiently waits for us to humbly submit to Him and never gives up on us. This should be a wonderful source of comfort to you. He knows everything, like how we all deserve to die in our sin. Yet, He chose to bear the judgement for the sins of the world so those who believe in Him and His salvation plan would be with Him forever. We can’t fully understand just how big, strong, and perfect He is. If we read our Bibles and pray each and every day, though, He will let us get to know Him. Then, we can have a relationship with the Creator of the universe and live a life of peace because of the faith He will grow in us.

Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
