TODAY’S VERSES:

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

In prep school we are studying God’s salvation plan! This month we are going to answer the questions of who, what, when, and why of salvation! Put on your thinking caps!

First, when did God decide to save His children?
-In eternity past… before anyone was even created!

Ephesians 1:3-5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,”

Second, how did God save us?
-God, the Son, became a man, Jesus Christ. Though He never sinned, Jesus willingly accepted the judgment for the sins of His children. After 3 days, He was raised from the dead. Amazing!

Hebrews 2:9-10 “But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.”

Third, why did God save us?
-Because of love!

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Finally, whom does God save?
-God saves His children! He sees the heart of people and their attitude towards sin. By grace, God gives His children a humble, repentant heart, and the faith to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His saving work. He offers both this Gift and the ability to receive it!

James 4:6 “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’”

2 Corinthians 7:10 “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret…”

Romans 10:9 “…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

God’s salvation plan is indescribable and something none of us deserve or could ever earn. May we always be grateful for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ!

2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
