I am saying this to help you, not to try to keep you from marrying. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few other things as possible to distract your attention from him.

“undistracted devotion to the Lord”
This refers to a life void of distractions that take you away from your “first love” (Rev 2:4). ANYTHING that creates a distance between you and Christ is evil.

Ridiculous Excuses
- “Well, I have to make money!”
- “I can’t neglect my kids!”
- “I have to look good for my spouse!”
- “God wants me to enjoy His blessings!”

Handcuffed To Wealth
The person who defends their distractions with, “Well, I have to make money,” is the person handcuffed to their wealth (1Ti 6:10; Heb 13:5). That is the fundamental reason for Jesus’ retort, Lk12:33 “Sell your possessions…”

Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.”

Jn 10:17-18
“For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

Godly Love Is Sacrificial
By nature, it is supernatural, meaning God is the source of it; therefore, we must abide in His love, as instruments of righteousness, to be able to bear good fruit (e.g., live sacrificially for others).

Perspective
Stay in the sphere of love, always; otherwise, even our good efforts are self-defeating (cp 1Co 13).

Which Do You Love More…
Jesus' feet or the world's feet? We know the "right" answer, but which one do you actually cling to on an average day?

Gal 5:16-17
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.

Counterfeit Love
This is the great “robber of robbers.” Love is the most attractive, motivational emotion of all. The KoD knows that if it seduces you from God’s sphere of love, it can control every aspect of you. (cp 1Jn 4:18)
