OUTLINE:

Know Your Destiny
The writer of Hebrews draws his audience of believers into fellowship with their destiny, as co-victors with the Champion who overcame death, itself, and therefore any real opposition we might face in life from our enemies.

Jesus Knew His Destiny
Jesus condescended to Earth in order to become like those He intended to save (Php 2:6-8). This was His mission and when He accomplished it, He became our relatable “Champion” over that which stood between us and God from the Fall – death.

Christ’s Perspective
Jesus Christ came to save those whom God predestined. He had a very special love for those in His family, those called according to God’s supreme purpose. He laid down His life for them to purchase their freedom.

What Does Abiding in Love Mean?
Jesus clearly stated that to abide in His love is a function of obedience. This is a reference to a life lived in the sphere of God’s love. The ONLY way to enter/remain is through OBEDIENCE!

“Outdo”
from proegeomai -  means to lead onward by example, go before, prefer – Strong’s Concordance. In context Ro 12:10, means we ought to set an example for each other by expressing love to those in the faith.

Jn 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Christ willingly ceded superiority temporarily to accomplish a specific goal.

The Value of affliction
– blog 10/6/23
Please don’t conflate affliction with despair. If anything, God uses suffering in your life to remind you of His love for you. This ought to bring you great joy. Granted, purification requires heat, lots of it; but do not be discouraged for God is at work in you, as He promised.
