TODAY’S VERSES:

Ephesians 5:15-16  Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

So, whatcha been doin’ the past couple of months? There has been no school, church, practice, games, recitals, or parties. So, whatcha been doin’? Have you been continuing to learn God’s Word, helping out your parents with the chores, and studying hard with home school lessons? Or have you been filling your days with TV, video games, and fights with your siblings?

Today’s verses tell us that we should be making the most of our time. How do we do that? If you read Kids’ Corner every month, you  already know the answer to this question.

You should be reading your Bible, every day.

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

You should be praying to the Lord, every day- thanking Him for how perfectly He always takes care of you, praying for yourself and others, even your enemies.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

You should be focusing on obeying God’s commands. This includes treating your family with love and patience. You have been spending more time with them lately and, most likely, losing patience quicker than you normally would. You must remember, though, that, as a Christian, you are to reflect His love to the people around you- especially your family!

John 15:12 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

When God blesses us with free time we are to put it to good use, not waste it. We are to be staying faithful to God’s Word and investing in our relationships with both Him and our family. We are to remember to whom we belong, whom we serve, and whom we represent.

We hope that if anyone asks you, “So, whatcha been doin’?” you will be able to answer that you have been reading your Bible and praying every day, obeying and being helpful to your parents, being patient with your siblings, and doing your home school work. Then, you can confidently say and others will clearly see that you are spending your time wisely!

Thank you, Lord, for giving us free time to learn more about you and how to apply your Word to our lives!
