OUTLINE:
The Source of Confidence
Jesus is the only person worthy of possessing self-confidence. Our confidence must be “in Him,” not in ourselves. We might call this “Christ- confidence”. (ref: 1Co 2:16)
A Ripoff Specialist
This is what a good minister is. He is supernaturally adept at organizing and regurgitating Holy Scripture and holy doctrines. If he's not ripping off the Word of God, he's ripping off God's glory (to his own detriment, as well as the flock's).
“while we have the opportunity, let us do good”
Life is short. God is good. Let us take advantage of what little time we have on this Earth to bring glory to the One who saves us. Let us avoid the trappings of creature-credit (e.g., self-confidence instead of Christ-confidence).
“you will be like God” (Gen 3:5)
This is Satan's way of saying, "You'll have your OWN wisdom and you won't need to consult with God anymore!"
The Great Depression - blog (summary point)
If we purchase (or even allow ourselves to be influenced by) the lie that encourages us to develop even small pockets of so-called “self-confidence”, we eventually exhaust ourselves into a state of depression. Putting faith in flesh is a disaster.
Examples of Misery (*good perspective)
• Work (*you have a job)
• Relationships (*you have brothers/sisters in Christ)
• Food (*you’re not starving)
• Money (*you have surplus according to God)
• Beauty/Intellect/Power (*God made you w/ purpose)
Sin is the cause of misery.

Ps 28:7
The LORD [and His Spirit] is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank
Him.
Ro 15:13 [Amplified]
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.
“Walking” With Power
Faith has power because the Spirit endows it. (ref: 1Co 2:3-5; 2Th 1:11-12; 1Pe 1:3-5)
If our faith fails under pressure...but God is omnipotent...what does that say about our supposed faith???
The Lord Is Our Confidence
Our confidence is rooted in faith. It is through faith by the power of the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Christ) that we obtain said confidence. In other words, it is the Spirit who empowers our Christ- confidence (ala Ro 15:13; Php 4:13; Col 1:9-12).
Eph 5:18
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

from maaseh tsedaqah (Hebrew) - also translated “the effect of righteousness” or “the wages of righteousness." The final happiness of the blessed in Christ's kingdom is always spoken of as a state of "rest and quietness"
