OUTLINE:

2Co 11:3b
…the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

Faith alone is what establishes intimacy with Jesus.

Ps 91:14-16
"Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. "He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. "With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation."

Ro 8:6
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.

We Lose Experiential Peace When We…
- Allow the flesh to dominate our perspective (Ro 8:6)
- Stop rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks (1Th 5:16-18)
- Try to architect our own peace (Ro 5:10-11)

“I am saved!”

“Why Jesus?” – Ravi Zacharias
"Our destiny is in a relationship to a person, not in a pilgrimage to a place. Our purpose is in communion with the living God, not in union with an impersonal idea or nameless Higher Power: Such categorization is intellectual cowardice.

“Why Jesus?” – Ravi Zacharias
"Access to an abstract power gives you no one to be grateful to in times of blessing and no one to question and receive comfort from in times of sorrow."

“fill you…in believing”
from pleroo su…en pisteuo - “the attitude of trust is the necessary prerequisite condition of God’s being able to fill a man’s soul, and that God’s being able to fill a man’s soul is the necessary consequence of a man’s trust.” - McClaren

1Jn 5:17a
All unrighteousness is sin.

Unrighteousness = Sin = Discord
What we've learned is that peace is the result of our Lord's promise to give it ("My peace I leave with you" - Jn 14:27). However, we've also learned that such promises are conditioned, experientially, upon our obedience (Ps 112:1; Pr 16:7; Jn 13:17; Jas 1:25; 2Jn 1:6).

Lk 9:62
But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Peace From Obedience
If we want peace, we must obey God's commands. Obedience implies very practical lifestyle choices, not just mental assent to obedience. While we can't "fake it 'til we make it", we can at least humble ourselves, learning humility through life, itself. God gives faith (Ro 12:3) that leads to obedience that leads to peace.

Encouraging Fruit
Fruit is a practical device that God uses to prove to us that He is actually sanctifying us. Peace is a primary fruit of righteousness. (2Th 3:16; Jn 16:33; Is 12:2, 26:3; 1Pe 3:8-12; Ro 15:13; Heb 12:14; Ps 4:8)

Heb 12:11 [Amplified]
For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems sad and painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness [right standing with God and a lifestyle and attitude that seeks conformity to God’s will and purpose].

Peace From Living By A Good Conscience
Remember, Paul's peace was related to his conscience and the way he chose to rightly live before God, including living in the calling of the Great Commission. (Ac 23:1,24:16, Ro 9:1, 1Ti 1:5, Heb 13:8, 1Co 4:4)

Ro 9:1
I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit.

1Co 4:4
For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord.

Flying By the Seat Of Your Pants
Feelings ought to be treated as results, not causes. The cause for spiritual living is the inerrant Truth in the Word of God. While we may experience feelings as a result, we ought NEVER trust our feelings when they contradict Holy Scripture!

Flying By the Seat Of Your Pants
We don't get to "feel" our way to understanding God. God has already revealed Himself to us through Holy Scripture, through Jesus Christ, the Word. The world says, "Follow your gut." The Bible says, "Follow Jesus.”

Peaceful Fruit
The "gateway" to actually experiencing said peace is in obedience (aka being righteous through the power of the Spirit and His Word). Our free will decides on experiential reception of God's peace (when we obey God, we receive it). (Lk 11:28b)

Earthly Righteousness
No matter how earnestly it is practiced, or even achieved, earthly righteousness has no part in God's peace. We believers receive His peace as a function of bearing “fruit of righteousness”.

Hypocrisy According To Jesus
The Greek root of this word, hypocrisy, means to wear a mask, as in a theater. Practicing righteousness for the approbation of others is like wearing a mask - it is disingenuous before God. God does not bless hypocrites, man does. (Mt 6:1, 2, 5, 16)

Sanctification In A Nutshell
The ONLY perspective we CAN have that delivers us unto "His peace" is to fully apprehend "His salvation". (Is 26:3; Jn 16:33; 1Th 5:16-24; 2Th 3:16)
